Brockton MA: Bridge Replacement

 Project: West Elm St Bridge Replacement

 Owner: City of Brockton

DETAILS: Replacement of 40’ length of the old granite/stone bridge on the Salisbury Brook with a new concrete 11’ by 7’ box culvert. Connecting both ends of the precast box culvert to the existing culvert with cast-in-place connections. Installation of four catch basin and two drain manholes on the area to control the surface water. Install a new sewer manhole and replace 40’ of the sewer main line on West Elm St in order to remove a sewer line that was running along the culvert. Replace sidewalk within the project limits and paved the road.

The box culvert failure has created a 20-foot by 40-foot by 10-foot-deep hole (approximate) in the parking lot. The city of Brockton and CDM Smith engineers requested us to replace 115’ of the culvert on the North side. On this section we remove 4’ of the existing abutment walls, form and place a new reinforced concrete cap. For the top slab we will be using precast deck panels.

DETAILS:  Aqualine Utility installed AZ Single Hot Rolled SSP A572 Gr. 60 Bare AZ18-800 x 30′ sheet pile. This project posed a very strategic installation being located behind the residents home with only 11 feet of access on one side of the home .The existing 10 foot high, 8×8 railroad timber wall was in full failure compromising the existing in ground swimming pool and the homes foundation.By designing this system enabled us to secure the homes foundation, swimming pool and prevented any impact to the wetlands.

DETAILS: Installation of a new 8-inch and 10-inch sewer main line system along with all new service lines to the existing homes.
We managed several thousand feet of cleaning and televising the existing sewer systems. We also managed and assisted Granite InLiner with 2,600 linear feet of a 6-inch sewer system bypass along with multiple access pits on the existing 8-inch sewer force main. InLiner lined the existing force main with a cured in place liner .

HULL MA: WATER MAIN SYSTEM INSTALLATION

DETAILS:  Aqualine Utility installed over 4,000 LN FT of a new 8-inch water main system on the railroad bed by upgrading the existing 2-inch water main system that was previously installed on Nantasket Beach. We installed over 10 new fire hydrants that were never in the remote areas due to the homes at one time being beach front vacation homes. We had to reinstate over 60 homes with new water services into the homes up to the existing meters. Aqualine directional drilled over a dozen homes to save disturbances of walls , walkways and areas that could not be mechanically excavated.

WAREHAM MA: ROADSIDE PUMP STATION SEWER LINE REPLACEMENT

DETAILS: We installed a 10-inch and 18-inch line stop at two pump station locations. Aqualine performed this work at two existing sewer pump stations for future emergency sewerage bypass connections. We had to cut into the existing force sewer mains once we shut down the stations. We installed 18-inch and 12-inch Ductile Piping with force main connections and new operating valves.

DETAILS:  Aqualine Utility had to set up coffer dams with bypass pumping to handle the flows of the Fox brook. We removed the existing failed stone box culvert to replace it with a new 9 foot by 8 foot bridge concrete culvert . We installed new headwalls along with new bridge MASS DOT railings. We installed a new 12-inch water with to both sides of over 100 LN FT with 12-inch operating valves. We installed over 300 LN FT of new monolithic concrete curbing with the new sidewalk as one. We permanent paved the roadway with new slope stabilizations.

CHELSEA MA: ROADWAY SEWER LINE REPLACEMENT

DETAILS:  Aqualine had to work on a very tight timeline on rt 16 under MASSDOT constraints . We had to excavate remove over 1,600 tons of materials , install over 1,500 LN FT of new 8-inch Ductile water main , new fire hydrants , over 44 new water services , 10×8 tapping sleeves with operating valves. Aqualine had to flow fill the entire rt 16 trench work to meet specifications. We also installed 24-inch drain line systems along with over 1,400 LN FT of a new 12-inch drain line system and associated manholes & catch basins. We had to mill and pave over a 1,000 tons of new roadways, install thermoplastic striping.

EASTON MA: CULVERT REPLACEMENT

DETAILS:  Aqualine Utility removed the existing failed granite stone culvert and replaced it with a new 18 foot by 10 foot concrete bridge box culvert. We had to install coffer dams on both sides of the brook with bypass pumping. We had to relocate the existing 2-inch high pressure gas main onto a designed temporary bridge over the Mulberry Brook. We had to offset the 8-inch water main underneath the culvert , install new concrete head walls with a MASS DOT guardrail system. Aqualine had to install approach slabs in both directions of the culvert , riprap the slopes for stabilization and permanent pave the roadway.

DETAILS:  INSTALLATION OF A NEW PRECAST CULVERT MANUFACTURED BY CONTECH. PROJECT INCLUDED DEMO OF EXISTING GRANITE STONE CULVERT, SETTING OF NEW EXPRESS FOOTINGS, NEW ARCHED CULVERT, NEW WING AND HEADWALLS. RECONSTRUCTION OF THE ROADWAY OVER THE AREA OF CONSTRUCTION.

DETAILS:  INSTALLATION OF A NEW PRECAST SPILLWAY CHANNEL, CONSTRUCTION OF NEW CAST IN PLACE CONCRETE SPILLWAY INLET STRUCTURE, INSTALLATION OF NEW SLUICE GATE, NEW STEEL PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE, IMPORTATION GRADING OF APPROX 15,000 TN OF EMBANKMENT MATERIAL TO BROADEN THE CROSS SECTION OF THE DAM.

GLOUCESTER MA: ANNISQUAM RIVER WATER MAIN CROSSING

DETAILS: DIRECTIONAL DRILL 20″ WATER MAIN ACROSS ANNISQUAM RIVER APPROXIMATELY 2265 LINEAR FEET AND EXCAVATE AND INSTALL 1,100 OF 20″ PVC PIPE. INSTALLATION OF 5- 20″ GATE VALVES PLUS VARIOUS BENDS TO MAKE CONNECTION BETWEEN BOTH SIDES OF THE RIVER.

MASSDOT: HYDRANT & FIRE PROTECTION WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT

PROJECT: MASSDOT- HYDRANT AND FIRE PROTECTION WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT ALONG A SECTION OF THE SOUTH BOSTON BYPASS AND I-93 FRONTAGE ROADS

DETAILS: CLEAN, VIDEO & CURE IN PLACE OF 3,700 LINEAR FEET OF EXISTING 12″ WATER MAIN. INSTALLATION OF 225 LINEAR FEET OF 6″ HDPE AND 925 LINEAR FEET OF 12″ HDPE WATER MAIN, 6″ & 12″ GATE VALVES, AND HYDRANTS. MILL & OVERLAY OF 9,750 SY OF ROADWAY WITH 1,600 TONS OF ASPHALT.
